This Birding tour in Uganda  allows you to visit new areas of interest, off beaten tracks such as mountain gorillas, eco-tourism, and bird watching sites that have put Uganda back on the East African tourist circuit. Uganda is famous for unique bird species and Albertine endemics Mabamba Swamp, Lake Mburo, Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, Lake Bunyonyi Bird watching in  Uganda is very productive. Depending on the weather predictions, wetland is also productive with riverine forest specialties. Species include: Black Headed, Grosbeak, Black-necked, Vieillot’s, and Black billed Weavers, Speckled Mouse-bird, Masked Swallow, Blue Flycatcher, Black and White Mannikin, Red-eyed Dove, White-chinned Prinia, Little Grey and Joyful Greenbuls, Grey-winged Robin-chat, Lead-colored Flycatcher, Open-billed Stork, Olive-bellied Sunbird, White-throated Apalis, White-winged Warbler, Black-billed Turacco, White-spotted Flufftail, Alpine Swift, Collared Sunbird, Papyrus Sunbird, White-breasted Negro-finch, Superb Sunbird, Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Hadada Ibis, Senegal Plover.

Day 1: Airport Transfer – Kampala
Will be met by Travel Hemispheres representative at the Entebbe Airport on arrival and be driven to Kampala . Dinner and overnight stay at hotel of your budget ie Tal cotagges, Hotel Triangle, Grand Imperial or Sheraton Kampala International Hotel

Day 2: Kampala – Mabamba Birding Sanctuary – Fort Portal
Morning will carryout birding at Mabamba swamp sanctuary near lake Victoria looking for the elusive and famous shoe bill plus many more species of water logged Mabamba Wetland – famous for shoebill and other avian species Yellow-backed Weaver, Grey-headed Gull, Long-tailed Cormorant, Common Squacco Heron,Yellow-billed Duck, Pied Kingfisher, Giant Kingfisher, Swamp Flycatcher, Broad-billed Roller, Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill, Splendid Glossy Starling, Black-headed Gonolek, Orange Weave plus migratory birds..
Apart from Murchison Falls National Park, Mabamba bay is the only place and site (so far rated as the best in Africa and/or the whole world) where the elusive Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) can be spotted at any one time of the day, approximately 38% of the global population of the Blue Swallow (Hirundo atrocaerulea), and the globally-threatened Papyrus Yellow Warbler plus other birds of global conservation concern. It is also a habitat to rare plant species like Scadoxus species. Recently, Mabamba has become one of the strong holds for the migrant Blue Swallow with over 100 individuals recorded every year. Mabamba has been surveyed in recent years and now boosts of over 260 species with one day’s record of 157 species (Bird Life International)
After proceed to Fort Portal with lunch stop on the way. The drive will take 4- 5 hours and will be stopping for interesting places where you can easily spot some bird species. Proceed to Fort Portal Overnight will be at Crater Valley Resort Kibale, Chimp Nest Lodge, Fort Motel, or Ndali Lodge.

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park.
Morning take a natural walk birding in the Kibale forest national park. Afternoon take nature walk in Bigodi swamp exploring different community projects, birding and seeing other primates. The day will be spent birding in the forest and the environs , specialties include white tailed Ant-thrushes, purple headed glossy starling, brown Illadopsis, green Breasted pitta, white napped pigeon, Mashed Apalis, Toro olive greenbul, blacked billed turaco, buff spotted woodpecker and green crombec dinner and overnight. ( Here there is community project of Bigodi Swamp an eco tourism project that involve communities when they were persuaded to leave the forest , they are involved in income generating project crafts making, environment protection and do birding training guides to sensitize the importance of birds in their environment).
Other species to be seen Red-winged Francolin , red-chested Fluftail , Abyssinian Ground Thrush, Grey throated flycatcher, white –bellied crested flycatcher, Masked and Black capped Apalises , Uganda woodland warbler , Chestnut- winged starling, Orange-tufted and tiny sunbirds, Grey-headed olive-back.
Overnight.

Day 4: Fort Portal – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast be driven to take short walk nature walk exploring different areas as you proceed to Queen Elizabeth. Lunch will be in Kasese town . Evening game drive looking for different habitats of the rift valley endemics. An excellent variety of birds can be seen and these include the pelicans, skimmers, kingfishers, think knees, storks, martins, swallows, weavers, canaries, kits, and many grassland specialties. Evening birding is usually productive. Dinner and overnight at Institute Hostel/Hippo Hill Lodge/Mweya safari Lodge.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning will do game drive looking for wildlife while also birding . Afternoon take boat cruise on Kazinga channel looking for many water birds. This channel harbors many bird species and the park boasts of over 600 species. This whole day birding will be done in Queen Elizabeth National Park. An early morning game drive in the open savannah makes very ideal for savannah birds. In the afternoon, a launch cruise will be taken on the Kazinga Channel that connects lakes of George and Edward, is among the best known regions for its high diversity of bird species. Special birds include African skimmer, Green Backed Heron, African spoonbill, African crake, water think knee, three banded plover, marsh, green, wood and common Sandpipers, gray headed gull, plain Martin lesser swamp-Warbler and Yellow-billed Ox-pecker. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi
Morning take natural walk birding different habitats and later proceed to Bwindi National park famous for gorilla tracking stopping for picnic lunch. Overnight will be at Buhoma Community Bandas Lake Kitandara Lodge, Buhoma Bwindi Lodge-Homestaed.

Day 7: Bwindi National Park famous for mountain gorilla tracking
Bwindi is famous for different endemics .Morning and afternoon will be dedicated to birding. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is prominently know for the endangered mountain gorillas, however this park boosts a number of special bird species such as Red-throated Alethe, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Montane Masked Apalis, Neumann’s Warbler and Rwenzori Batis. Other non-endemic specials include Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Dusky Tit, Black Bee-eater, White-bellied Robin-chat and Sooty Flycatcher as well as hole-nesting Waller’s and Narrow-tailed Starlings in the dead tree snags. The Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, Black-necked Weaver, Lühder’s Bush-shrike and Bar-tailed Trogon will be spotted, Toro-Olive Greenbul, Cassin’s Grey Flycatcher and Western Bronze-naped Pigeon, Collared Apalis, Rwenzori Hill Babbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Shelly’s Crimsonwing, Dusky Crimsonwing, Archer’s Robin-chat, Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Dwarf Honeyguide and many others. Mythical African Green Broadbill, Graur’s Rush Warbler and Carruther’s Cisticola. Rewnzori Nightjar, Scarce swift, Bar tailed Trogon, cinnamon Chested bee eater, red chested owlet, olive thrush, white tailed ant thrush among others can also be seen here.
Evening do birding outside the park looking for some species. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Rest Camp

Day 8: Bwindi National Park: Mountain Gorilla Tracking combined with birding tour day 
Morning after breakfast with packed lunch, you will be guided to the starting point for briefing. You will be allocated guides to track gorillas with, and then will be off to begin your adventure. A briefing from your local guide and then it’s off! The time taken and the terrain varies (1- 8 hours) this depends on the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting face to face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful manner.
After tracking will be driven will trace back your trails back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.
You will need to carry long pants like jean type, sturdy shoes to help you hiking steep and slippery slopes, long sleeved shirts and blouses to protect your bodies from thorns and itching plants. You may not rule out raining on you and at least a rain coat is needed to protect your bodies and any equipment carried along with like cameras. Also carry insect repellants and sun cream
Afternoon Transfer to Ruhija. Dinner and overnight at Ruhija Rest Camp.

Day 9: Bwindi Ruhija to Lake Mburo: albertine endemics species Mubwindi swamp
Take nature walk in Bwindi Forest/ Mu Bwindi swamps watching birds and other primates that share this forest with gorillas. The star attractions here are Collared Apalis, Rwenzori Hill Babbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Shelly’s Crimsonwing, Dusky Crimsonwing, Archer’s Robin-chat, Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Dwarf Honeyguide and many others. The trail to Mubwindi Swamp promises to reveal some of the most difficult of all rift-endemics including the mythical African Green Broadbill. Mubwindi Swamp holds Graur’s Rush Warbler and Carruther’s Cisticola.
After will drive to lake Mburo national park also famous for many bird species. Overnight at Rwonyo UWA Camp or Mantana Lodge. If time allows will do some birding by the lake on arrival. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Lake Mburo National park: Birding tour for Savannah Woodland species
Morning will take natural walk looking for many bird species. Then do evening boat ride on lake Mburo also watching different bird species. This Park contains extensive area of wetlands. Lake Mburo National park harbours several species of mammals including Zebras, Impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. Track at kigambira Loop to look for savanna and Acacia woodland species including Blue-naped Mousebird, Spot-flanked Barbet, Nubian Woodpecker, Northern Black Tit, Red-headed Lovebird, Green-capped Eremomela, Ross’ Turaco and the highly sought-after Red-faced Barbet. Other bird population here includes green backed collared barbets, white winged warbler, Papyrus yellow warbler, carruthers, Cisticola, Papyrus Gonoleka, Yellow Billed Oxpecker and Northern Brown throated weaver.
Overnight at Rwonyo Camp

Day 11: Lake Mburo – Kampala
Morning take game drive looking for wildlife and more bird species. After be driven to Kampala stopping at other important places where other bird species will be located . Stop for on the way for lunch stop at the Equator crossing for memorable photo shooting

Day 12: Kampala- Airport Transfer
After breakfast at your leisure proceed to the Airport arriving by in time for your flight
