Day 1: Airport Transfer
You will be met by your driver /guide at Entebbe International Airport 2.45  on EK 723 who will drive you to Kampala the Capital City of Uganda. Check in at Capitol Palace Hotel in Kampala just few minutes outside the city center dinner and overnight.

Day 2:  Kampala to Kasese
Drive from Kampala in the morning and proceed to the western part of the country-crossing Equator and arrive in Kasese town ready for lunch. Visit Rwenzori Mountain Services(RMS) in town. After, carryout food shopping together with your guide and help of the Rwenzori RMS staff to stock enough and right food. Dinner and overnight at Magherita Hotel.

Day 3:  Day 1 Rwenzori Hiking Safari; Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut, 2.652 m.
After breakfast head to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park Head Quarter at Nyakalengija, 1.646 m., you will receive the briefing from RMS (Rwenzori Mountaineering Services) and UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority), with the possibility of renting equipment. The hike starts through the plantations and homes of the Bakonjo, the people of the mountain, gradually reaching garden plots and elephants grass. You follow the Mobuku river, until crossing the Mahoma river. The trail passes through an open bracken fern slopes and Podorcarpus Forest, up to Nyabitaba Hut, 2.652 m., which is the arrival point for the day. This will take from 5 to 6 hours. From the location, you are facing on the North the Portal Peaks, 4.627 m., in front Mount Kyniangoma. During the day, you might see monkeys, the Rwenzori Turaco and hearing the chimpanzees.

Day 4: Day 2 Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut, 3.414 m.
From Nyabitaba Hut you cross the Kurt Shaffer Bridge, through a muddy area. Then the trail climbs up through the bamboo forest. You reach a steep rocky area, which leads to Nyamuleju Hut. This point marks the start of the giant lobelia and groundsel zone. The way proceeds through a bog full of typical plants along the Bujuku river. The final point is John Matte Hut, 3.414 m. for spending the night. From Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte it can take approximately 6 hours. Enjoy the view of Mount Stanley and snow capped Margherita and Elena Peaks.

Day 5: Day 3  Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; From John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut, 3.962 m.
From John Matte Hut you cross the Bujuku River and enter the lower Bigo bog, a grassy bog where you experience how to jump from tussock to tussock. You reach Bigo Hut and enter the upper Bigo bog, proceeding to Lake Bujuku, where it is starting the alpine savannah zone of little vegetation. You finally arrive at Bujuku Hut, 3.962 m. This day hike can take up to 5 hours. There you have a view on the peaks of Mount Stanley, Mount Baker and Mount Speke. Ovenight

Day 6:  Day 4 Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; From Hut to Bujuku Hut, 3.962 m to Elena Hut 4430 m.
From Bujuku starts the diversion on your right Elena hut. Elena Hut is the base camp for climbing Margherita Peak 5109 m in the Stanley complex that wil require extra day to the peak. Proceed to Elena Hut for overnight.

Day 7: Day 5 of Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; From  Elena Hut 4430 m to Margherita Peak 5109 m – Kitandara 4023 m
This is day to reach  one of the peaks of the  famous Mountains of the Moon. The equipment of climbing this section is important to your success and they include ice axe, mountain rubber boots, crampons, ropes are needed. Will climb to one of the peaks and descend to  Elena Hut and continue to Kitandara Hut.

You will reach Upper Kitandara lake through thick mud to Lower Kitandara lake where is located Kitandara Hut, 4.023 m. Kitandara in the local language means “fresh field”, as a cold wind is blowing into the valley. Time to complete the hike about 5 hours. During this tract, it is recommended to check any sign of altitudes sickness or hypothermia. From Kitandara Hut you can proceed for climbing the peaks -Mount Baker or Mount Luigi di Savoia and the peak Vittorio Sella.

Day 8:  Day 6 of Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; From  Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman  3261 m
From Lake Kitandara you climb to Freshfield Pass, 4.282 m., a long flat of high alpine mossy glades, before descending the circuit among rocky and boggy areas. The panorama is dominated by the glaciers of Mounts Stanley and Baker. A muddy trail leads to Akendahi, Bujongolo and Kabamba rock shelters, where starts the Kabamba valley down to Guy Yeoman Hut, 3.261 m. This can take up to 6 hours. The hut is surrounded by a beautiful landscape of mountains, vegetations and rivers.

Day 9: Day 7 of Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; From  Guy Yeoman Hut to Nyabitaba Hut 2652 m
In this day, you will complete the circuit by going back to Nyabitaba Hut. The trial is attractive along the valley of the Mubuku and Kichuchu rivers, rich in plants and flowers of the heather zone before reaching the bamboo forest. See Kabamba falls on the way. Time to reach Nyabitaba is about 6 hours. Eventually, you decide to terminate the trial by descending directly to Nyakalengija, adding 2 to 3 more hours.

Day 10: Day 8 of Rwenzori Hiking Safari Hiking; From  Nyabitaba Hut 2652 m to Nyakalengija
From Nyabitaba to reach Nyakalengija it can take up to three hours. From Nyabitaba starts the 40 minutes trial to see Lake Mamoha and back to the hut for descending to the Park Head Quarter. Picked by your driver to overnight at Hotel Margherita in  Kasese town for at least hot showers and good food welcoming you from the mountain.

Day 11: Kasese town – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After early breakfast will drive to  Queen Elizabeth National park. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most outstanding treasures of Uganda, and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO auspices. . It borders on Lake George and Lake Edward as well as Kazinga Channel in the western area of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

The park has attractive acacia-dotted Savannah which is the home of buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, lion hyena etc  which graze these peaceful acres .At the lake, there are Hippos and a wonderful diversity of birds. Because of the different habitats of the lakeshores and the broad Savannah, the variety seems endless. Catch a glimpse of water birds diving for fish, the Marabou stork, bee-eater and cheeky.

The day begins with an early game drive. There are variety of animals like; lions, buffaloes, elephants, kobs, bushbucks and the rare leopards. Over 500 bird species have been identified here, making it a Mecca for bird-watchers. They include the black bee–eater, 11 different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors.  Afternoon take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel in the afternoon. This waterway joins Lakes Edward and George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes with elephants at the banks. Retire to your accommodation for dinner and over night at Jacana safari Lodge.

Day 12: Queen Elizabeth National Park –
After breakfast, you will go for Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge(tracking chimpanzees is subject floods that occasionally occur in the gorge) where you will see not only the chimpanzee but also other primates like the colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys plus baboons.  Proceed to Maramagambo Natural Forest to take nature walk. Visit the caves seeing some reptiles that prey on number of bats that stay in these caves, view other primates that are in this forest as you appreciate different flora and fauna. This is sample of the rainy forest that may rich your dreams of rainy forest . Overnight at  Jacana safari lodge Evening will be at your leisure.

Day13: Queen Elizabeth –  Ishasha/climbing lions -Bwindi

After breakfast you will  drive to the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth of Ishasha sector famous for climbing lions.  Take  an evening game drive looking for climbing lions basking in fig trees. The sector supports many more wild life that will viewed here. After picnic lunch will be driven to Bwindi to check at  lodge /camp  for dinner and overnight.

D14: Bwindi  gorilla tracking National Park – Lake Bunyonyi/Kabale
After breakfast with packed lunch you will be led to the park headquarters where the local guides will lead you to the very family you will track gorillas. Track gorillas seeing a variety of fauna. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting them face-to-face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Enjoy a close view of these primates as they undergo their daily activities. you will particularly enjoy the young ones as  swing from branch to branch while the sliver back  patrols to ensure the safety of the  entire family. After tracking will be driven to Kabale  in order to spend night here and be in time tomorrow driving to the airport. Dinner and overnight at Acadia Cottages.

 Day 15: Kabale  – Entebbe Airport
After Breakfast drive to Kampala with lunch stop on the way. Stopover on your way could be in Ankole grassland where long horned cattle are common sight. Continue southwards stopping at Mpambire in Mpigi an art and craft center where drum making technology has been passed on from generation to generation. Stop at the Equator for photo taking and continue to journey. Proceed to Entebbe airport arriving in time for your flight   for your home bound flight. End of Safari.

  • park entry fees, game drives, boat/ launch trip, forest guiding walks, all activities mentioned in the itinerary while on safari

  • 1 Gorilla permit per person (1day visit)-Bwindi
  • 1 chimp permit per person – Kyambura

Excluded are:

  • Ice ace, crampons ropes( mountain equipment that you will be rented directly from the mountain authorities . estimated each equipment rate range from $12 – 15 dollars for the whole journey, Drinks, your bar bills, phone calls, personal insurance and any other services of a personal nature like souvenirs tips and laundry etc.

 Tipping:  Is done at ones description  depending on ones satisfaction and is not mandatory.
