Safari Overview: 3 Days Habituation Experience Safari at Kibale
Chimpanzees are an endangered species because they are rare and declining rapidly across Africa. African Forests that have been keeping almost 90% of the chimpanzees on earth. International laws protect chimpanzees because they are threatened by extinction. Their main cause of decline is due to the activities of people for example: Chimpanzees are losing their home in Uganda. In the past 20 years over 900 kms of forest has been cut down where chimpanzees live mostly in small patches outside protected areas- this is about twice the size of Budongo forest. Our 3 days chimpanzee habituation experience safari takes place at Kibale forest National Park. By chimpanzee habituation we mean going through an experience which park guides go through to train chimpanzees to get used to human interaction. It starts around 6.00am and may last more than 8 hours.
Safari Highlights
Day 1: Kampala to Fort Portal
Day 2: Day for Chimpanzee Habituation and Bigodi:
Day 3: Fort portal. /Kibale – Kampala
Day 1 : Kampala to Fort Portal
In the morning after breakfast at your leisure will transfer from Kampala to Fort Portal via Mityana Mubende as you drive viewing tea plantations on the road sides. Arrival will be a in the evening. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation and Bigodi
After breakfast visit Kanyanchu the park headquarter offices for your chimpanzee tracking of habituated families where you will see other primates like the colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys plus other primates that share this forest with chimpanzees. The park also hosts over 320 species of birds including the yellow spotted nectar, yellow rumped tinker birds etc. It also has colorful butterflies; over 250 species have been spotted. For nature lovers, the dense forest is still intact you can see trees of different species. Track chimps in their natural habitat. Kibale Forest National Park is believed to have most concentration of primates in the world. Over 12 different species of primates including chimps in this park have been recorded. Enjoy a lot plant life with tall tropical tree species.
Afternoon you will visit Bigodi swamp for a natural walk. Visit the surrounding villages interacting with locals exploring the eco-tourism activities in the area like tea estates, after this will drive back to your hotel/ dinner and overnight at your lodge
Day 3: Fort portal. /Kibale – Kampala
After breakfast, proceed to Kampala passing via Mubende for your way back to your home country. END OF SAFARI.
