Kidepo Valley National Park is one of leading wildlife safaris park in Uganda. Among the various species to see within this park are: the Hunting dog, Bat-eared Fox, Cheetah, Striped Hyena, Caracal, the aard Wolf, elephants, oribi, burchell’s zebras, Jackson’s hartebeests, bush pigs, bohor reed buck, warthogs, rothschild giraffes, defassa water bucks, cape buffaloes, elands, bush duskier, bush bucks, lions, side-striped jackals, leopards, black-backed jackals, various small cats as well as spotted hyenas.

The mountains here as well as the Savannah landscape of this park is breathtaking. The Narus valley is found within the South West part of this park; the rocky Napore Nyagia mountain range actually forms the western boundary. Splitting it from Kidepo Valley in the north-east, are the stunning Natira plus Lokayot Hills. Then to the north in South Sudan are Lotukei Mountains as well as the Morungole range which represents the southern border of this park.
The Best Time to Visit Kidepo Valley National Park
Usually people make mistake to assume that Karamoja has similar rain patterns like the rest of Uganda countrywide. Karamaoja has different rainy season from other parts of Uganda. The dry season here start from September to month of March . This is the best time to make safari to Kidepo Valley park. Rains here come from month of April to August. Rains here are usually heavy and flooding is experienced within the park and makes game driving in the game tracks almost impossible and if you are unfortunate the running water may wash away your vehicle and belongings. Day 1 of Kidepo Valley National Park flying Safari
3 Days Kidepo flying safari will start from Kampala. Will pick you from your hotel in Kampala then we drive you Entebbe for schedule flight by Aerolink to Kidepo National Park. Scheduled flights are operated on Wednesday , Friday and Sunday in a week. Departure is at 1230 hrs and arrival at Apoka Airfield where will arrive at 1445 hrs. Will be picked by your driver guide who check in you to your lodge of stay. Can have lunch and relax a bit . After lunch will be conducted to an evening game drive. Will enjoy views of large wildlife animal including the bush elephant, Burchell’s zebra , Rothschild giraffe, cape buffalo, eland, busbucks, bush duiker defassa waterbuck, bohor reedbuck, jackson’s hartebeest and oribi. Five species of primates are found in Kidepo National park and they include the Kavirondo bush baby is endemic. Carnivores include the lion, leopard, and small cats , spotted hyena black-backed jackals and side-striped jackal. Lion and other cats like leopard cheetah may be seen as you head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 of Kidepo Flying Safari : Game drive and Cultural Tour
Today while in the Kidepo national park , will have early breakfast and head for game drive in the vast plains of the park where will enjoy good scenery here of breathtaking Savannah and with mountain landscapes which end in rugged horizons. Kidepo Valley National Park has got a vast altitudinal range and diverse climatic conditions that has enabled a diverse flora and fauna to survive. As a result variety of wildlife safaris searching for lots of animals of which may not be found in other park in Uganda. From Apoka the park headquarters going to all directions will encounter wild life in plenty.
While on the game drive will be able to encounter lions basking in the sun on top of the rocks and others on the hunting expedition while others up in the trees also will see bush elephants, giraffe, buffalo Batteared fox, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal, cheetah and hunting dog. Less common include the greater and lesser kudu, Chaundlers mountain reedbuck, klipspringer and didik.
An extension to Kidepo Valley will come into sight of ostriches and many other birds and Kidepo is second to Queen Elizabeth National Park in terms many bird species of 435 and about 100 species are endemic.
After lunch in the afternoon will do cultural community walk among the Karamanjongo communities. This will take you to their Manyatas and learn their way of living as nomadic cattle keeper pastoralists . Mix and dance with Karamanjongo their traditions . Visitors will who do cultural safaris will visit Karimonjong Manyattas (homesteads) and probably Kraals to see traditional customs, stools spears, headdresses, knives, bows and arrows and jewellery. After will be guided back to your lodge for overnight.

Day 3 of Kidepo Park Uganda Flying Safari: Fly back to Entebbe
Repeating Games drive in this park gives you more chances of encountering more wildlife and even viewing those you may have missed in last game drive. The game drive may last 3 – 4 hours exploring the Karamajongo kidepo plains. After game drive will be driven back to the lodge ready to take your scheduled flight at 1500hrs arriving at Entebbe at 1630hrs.
