White Water Rafting in Uganda

As regards White water rafting, this is very adventurous outdoor activity. The good thing it does not need any experience of swimming. The swaying currents of water keep you on the move. No type of experiences are required whatsoever.

In the morning you are picked by the rafting company in Kampala at your hotel and be driven to Jinja. At the starting point you will receive briefing. There you are grouped into 2 or 3 groups. Those who like mild or wild. The mild is for those who have some little fears and for the wild are for the adventurous.  After getting a briefing will choose what raft to join. There is no much paddling  that can tire you. You just paddle to direct the raft and dodge currents and rocks.

Otherwise you will  keep enjoying the swaying of the raft by the currents and rapids. Usually there are guides who do much of the work so you do not have to get bothered. After lunch another short briefing  to let those who now want to switch from one raft to the other can do it. Those from wild  can join mild and those from Wild to mild can also change and those on 1/2 day trip  will end from this point.

After will be served a barbecue to welcome you from days long rafting on these famous waters of river Nile. Will again be transferred to Kampala  Jinja where will end of the tour.

Notes on white water rafting.

Will  need to protect your bodies from lots of sunshine  so bring  sun-cream for protection. Avoid putting this on your forehead where it will get washed into and irritate your eyes. Also we recommend barefoot travel in the rafts.  You can wear trainers or sandals but both will get wet and you risk loosing them later to the river water . Unless your sandals have secure buckles, velcro straps are likely to come loose and the Nile will claim them. Put on light T-shirts and shorts and bring changing clothes at the end of the rafting.

Bring a towel and change of clothes for the end of you river trip. Everything you wear will come back wet.

Do not bring jewellery, cameras, watches or other items of value you would not like to lose.
